Any organisation using lifting equipment to move people has a legal duty under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) to ensure that equipment is thoroughly examined at regular intervals by a competent person. Failure to comply puts both service users and organisations at serious legal and financial risk.
MoreAble Ltd has been carrying out LOLER Thorough Examinations since 2009, backed by over 25 years of hands-on experience in patient handling and hoist engineering. Our qualified field service engineers examine your equipment thoroughly, issue fully compliant certificates, and schedule your next examination before your current one expires – so you never have to chase paperwork.
A LOLER Thorough Examination is not the same as a service or a visual check. It is a detailed, structured inspection carried out by a competent person to verify that lifting equipment is safe to use and meets all legal requirements. It must be documented and certified.
For equipment used to lift people – such as ceiling hoists, mobile hoists and bath hoists – examinations are required every six months as a minimum. MoreAble will advise the correct frequency for each item in your inventory.
We carry out LOLER Thorough Examinations across a wide range of settings including care homes and supported living providers, SEN and SEND schools, NHS and private hospitals, leisure centres and hydrotherapy pools, and public sector organisations.
